BN Soft Web Master Award application Criteria Unlike other awards on the internet today, the Webmaster Award is not easy to
win. There are strict criteria that must not only be met, but must exceed the
standards that the rest of the webmasters have set. What 'standards' you may
ask? Well, it's those standards that all the webmasters around the world have
created on their own. These 'standards' do change as the creative talents of all
us web masters change.
The following criteria is what our judges like to see. If your site scores
well in the following areas, you have a great chance of winning!
Unique and useful content
Websites showing unique content that is
actually useful to the target audience will likely result in a good score
here.
Exceptional design and layout
Websites showing design creativity in
conjunction with functional layouts will score well in this category.
Clear and simple navigation
Nothing makes our judges happier than
judging a website that is easy to navigate and simple to understand.
No web sites containing pornography, gambling, hate material, warez, or any
similar type sites will be submitted to the judges.
- No horizontal scroll bars in 800
x 600 to 1024x 768 screen size.
- Easily read text is a real bonus
on a plain background
- Images must have alt tags and
correct height and width measurement
- No more than two animations per
page (excluding awards and link pages)
- Graphics must be non
pixilated
- Your site must be family friendly
- Site must not take more than 2
minutes to load
- Your site must have more than 6
pages of content.
- Good use of metatags - Do you
have keywords for the search engines?
- If there is a
Flash intro, it must have a skip
option
- Good use of grammar and
spelling
- Your site must be in English
Non - acceptable items
- Forced plug-ins such
as comet cursors Mouse trailers
- Sites
displaying different designs in different pages
- Sites containing scripting
errors
- Sites with under
construction notices
- Sites that are just links to other
sites
- 2 or more broken internal images
- Sites with Right click disabled
- Non Once per session
Popups [A popup shouldn't
be displayed more than once to a user during a visit]
- Sites with multiple page transition
scripts [Only a page
can contain a transition effect]
- Sites using scripts which take away
browser funtions
[For
eg a script which prevents the brwser from closing a window, or stopping
a page..]
- Sites
containing pornography, warez, or other illegal content.
- Sites which denigrate
other people, cultures or country.
